Welcome to the Bridge Benefice
The Bridge Benefice covers five churches in the area: Bridge, Bekesbourne, Patrixbourne, Nackington and Lower Hardres.
The vicarage welcomes enquiries from anyone (even if they do not attend church) about Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals in any of the churches as well as Funerals to be held at the crematorium. Please also visit our prayer pages and pray for the sick and remember those whom we have lost.
The Reverend Canon Jonathan LLoyd writes
"Last Sunday [June 12th] I announced that I will be leaving the Benefice to take up a post as Rector in a parish in Vancouver, Canada.
My final Sunday with you will be 4th September 2016.
I have greatly enjoyed serving this Benefice and will miss you greatly.
I am grateful to our churchwardens and ministry team who have already met with the acting Archdeacon and Area Dean to plan the future, and take the discussion to our three PCCs for discussion and decision"
Battle of the Somme
This Friday (1 July) is the 100th anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Somme, the most devastating battle in our modern military history.
Our vicar, Canon Jonathan LLoyd, invites us to a time of silence, reflection and remembrance at 0715 this Friday morning, for 15 minutes, at Bridge Church. 0730 is the exact moment of the start of the battle a hundred years ago, and will be marked by the blowing of a whistle - the signal that was used to start the battle.
All are warmly invited - people of all faiths and none.
At the blowing of the whistle at 0730 we will leave the church in silence and the church bell will toll a hundred times.
Canterbury Food Bank
Yellow bins for donations will stay in Bridge and Patrixbourne churches, as the Food Bank continues to need our help. The congregations have all been incredibly generous so far. Many thanks to those who have already donated.
